Dr. Suryesh Kumar Namdeo is a Senior Research Analyst at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, and a Fellow at the Asia Centre for Health Security, National University of Singapore. He is a member of the Indian National Young Academy of Science (INYAS) and leads policy research on biological security and technology diplomacy. Previously, he served as Science and Technology Consultant for the Biological Weapons Convention (BWC) at the UN Office for Disarmament Affairs in Geneva. He co-authored the UN Seoul Youth Declaration for Disarmament and Non-proliferation and the Youth Declaration for Biosecurity
Dr. Namdeo has co-chaired a multinational project of the US NASEM on biological threats in emerging biotechnology. He serves on the advisory board of IBBIS and is a member of the AIxBio Global Forum of the Nuclear Threat Initiative. He earlier worked with India’s Science, Technology and Innovation Policy Fellowship Program and the Journal of Science Policy and Governance. He holds a PhD in Molecular Biology from the Max Planck Institute for Biology, Germany, and an IFBA certification in biorisk management.
