Air Marshal Philip Thomas AVSM VM (Retd) is a highly decorated veteran of the Indian Air Force with 35 years of leadership in aviation, strategy, and defence innovation. With 4000+ flying hours on fighters and trainers, he has an outstanding record in aerospace safety and instructional excellence. He spearheaded the induction of the first Agniveer-Vayu batch and introduced Gen-Z assessment models for IAF recruitment. As Assistant Chief of Air Staff, he modernised HR policies, advanced digital governance, and advised MoCA/DGCA on civil aviation training. Internationally, he represented India in ASEAN+16 forums, defence exchanges with Japan, South Korea, and Australia, and co-orchestrated the Global Chiefs of Air Staff Conference. He has commanded key operational air bases, led humanitarian missions, and established CBRN readiness frameworks. Beyond service, he mentors defence startups, advises aviation bodies, and lectures on leadership, aerospace power, and strategy. Currently, he is pursuing a PhD in Strategic Studies and Leadership.
