Dr. Dheeraj Paramesha Chaya
Dr. Dheeraj Paramesha Chaya is a Lecturer in Intelligence and International Security at the University of Hull. He earned his PhD in Intelligence Studies from the University of Leicester, where his thesis examined India’s strategic intelligence during the 1962, 1971, and 1999 wars. He is the author of India’s Secret Intelligence Culture and Strategic Surprises (Routledge, 2022), the first academic monograph on Indian foreign intelligence. His research spans counterterrorism, covert operations, and intelligence-policy dynamics in South Asia. Dr. Chaya has published widely in leading journals and has been recognized with the Kjetil Hatlebrekke Memorial Book Prize (2024). He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a recipient of the University of Leicester’s International Postgraduate Research Excellence Award. At Hull, he leads modules on policing, terrorism, cybersecurity, and intelligence. As a consultant to the Karnataka State Police, he regularly lectures on counterintelligence, OSINT, SOCMINT, and radicalisation. His academic interests lie in comparative intelligence cultures, strategic studies, and sub-conventional warfare. He continues to contribute to both academia and policy through teaching, research, and public engagement.
