Maj Gen Bhabani S. Das, SM, VSM (Retd.)
Major General Bhabani S. Das (Retd), SM, VSM is a decorated officer of the Indian Army with over 37 years of distinguished service. Commissioned in 1962 into the 16th Battalion of the Rajput Regiment, he served in key operational and staff roles across India. He specialized in internal security, counter-terrorism, high-altitude operations, and conflict management. He commanded the Assam Rifles in Nagaland and retired as Inspector General (Operations) of the NSG. For his exceptional service, he was awarded the Sena Medal and the Vishisht Seva Medal. Post-retirement, he served as Chairman of the Staff Selection Commission, Odisha. He also held the position of Executive Director at a multinational security company. Known for his leadership, he mentored many young officers during his tenure. He remains active in defence circles through advisory and academic engagements.
His legacy continues to influence India’s strategic and security domains.
