Mr. C. Balasubramanian is a Senior Research Officer and Head of the Strategic Studies Programme at the Centre for National Security Studies (CNSS). He specializes in area studies, focusing on China and the Indo-Pacific, alongside traditional and non-traditional national security perspectives. With extensive experience across the Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of External Affairs, Govt. of India, think tanks, industry and academia, he brings a multifaceted perspective to his work.
Beyond research and leadership, Mr. Balasubramanian has been instrumental in establishing think tanks and developing national security curricula for key stakeholders in the Government of India. Proficient in basic Mandarin, he has actively participated in Track II Dialogues.
With over 60 publications in print and electronic media, he is regularly invited to present on national security topics at national and international forums.
