Prof. Amitava Acharya
Amitav Acharya is the UNESCO Chair in Transnational Challenges and Governance and Distinguished Professor at the School of International Service, American University, Washington, DC. He has held academic positions at York University, University of Bristol, Rhodes University, and Nankai University, among others. He was the inaugural Boeing Chair at Tsinghua University and Fellow at Harvard and Oxford. His books include Re-imagining International Relations, The End of American World Order, and The Making of Southeast Asia. His essays appear in top journals like International Organization and Foreign Affairs. A noted public intellectual, he writes for global newspapers and appears on CNN, BBC, and more. He was the first non-Western President of the International Studies Association (2014–15). He has received multiple ISA Distinguished Scholar Awards and American University’s Scholar-Teacher of the Year Award (2020).
